More about Distance Is Not Absolution

It began with a sling… leather, stone, and faith. I was just a shepherd then—no sword, no title, only the call to defend what others feared to face. Goliath fell, not by strength, but by precision… by the belief that righteousness and skill could outmatch any brute.

They called me a hero. Songs were sung. Crowds cheered. Even the king smiled—but behind his eyes, I saw it: fear. Fear that the boy who struck down a giant might one day strike down a crown.

So I fled.

From honored warrior to hunted traitor… betrayed not by enemies, but by the very nation I served. I found shelter among the Philistines—yes, the enemy. Strange, isn’t it? Sometimes your enemy gives you rest when your own people give you exile. There, I became something else. Sharper. Silent. A blade honed in darkness. Still faithful. Still watching.

The sling became a symbol. Then bows, spears, rifles… and now, we strike from the sky with machines that don’t bleed. But something changed. We stopped looking our enemies in the eye. The farther we strike, the more we lose touch with why we strike.

Back then, I stood close enough to see Goliath’s breath. I felt the ground tremble as he fell. Today, we press buttons. Watch explosions through screens. Distant death, sanitized. Convenient. Cold.

And yet... the lesson remains: never underestimate the quiet one, the small one, the outcast. Because even a shepherd, betrayed and hunted, can shape the fate of kings and nations.

And yes… from my blood came another. Not a warrior—but a redeemer. Jesus. He too was underestimated. He too stood before giants—of empire, of hatred, of pride. And like me, he was praised. Then betrayed. Hunted. Crucified.

So maybe it runs in the line—the crown, the exile, the cross. The world loves its saviors when they win, but fears them when they speak truth.

Just don’t forget—distance is not absolution. Whether with a sling or a drone, every shot carries the weight of the soul who cast it. And every soul, no matter how small, carries the power to shake kingdoms.
